I was as before; safe from the world just outside my door.
‘Scared to make new friends, waves, or major plans to have more.
But then you addressed my whole social-life, which you deemed a mess.
Was it worth the stress? Well then, yes, I guess, ‘cause I’ve progressed.
And you made it happen.
Circumstance didn’t come until after
we did the things we always said we would do.
You help me see life through.
That’s how this story goes.
You came and lightened up my load.
We do it all ourselves, but we’re never alone.
We two are whole.
You take me by the hand, and you get what no one understands.
Few can empathize with a child disguised as a man,
but somehow, you make that happen.
You mix my hijinks up with lots of laughter.
If I live forever, I could never repay
just what you’ve done today.
It’s called, ‘taking control’,
and I was open to letting go.
There was a great divide that I could never cross;
not on my own.
